There's a reason I've kept my mouth shut on page 22 for the most part.

From I remembered about ME3, you have the option to leave Tali behind on Rannoch, so in this case Shepard left Tali behind to allow her help rebuild Rannoch along with the other quarians and geth. (EDIT: It wasn't possible in the final game from one of the commenters, it was cut. However, by this point, I can't change the plot point at this state. Still thanks to him for the heads up.)

Anyway, it doesn't feel right in Renaissance!Shep's perspective just to drag Tali out of the homeworld, after what she has been through, so yeah, that's the reasoning. Also it gives me more opportunity for more plot fodders in the future arcs.

And yes, the Geth had made it through as you can see here, so there's a big possibility that EDI will survive this too.

Still, there's the factor of the price to use that piece of j... I mean that McGuffin equipment, given it's shady history...
